STATISTICS CANADA RDC DATA SETS

Currently, SWORDC contains the following longitudinal surveys:

Available at SWORDC:

Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS)

Ethnic Diversity Survey (EDS)

General Social Survey (GSS)

Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants to Canada (LSIC)

National Population Health Survey (NPHS)

National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (NLSCY)

Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics (SLID)

Workplace and Employee Survey (WES)

Youth in Transition Survey (YITS)

Virtually ANY Statistics Canada survey can be used within the SWORDC. As long as the documentation is up-to-date (which is the case for any survey recently imported into any of the other RDC's), the data will arrive within a day or two. Occasionally, in the case of more obscure data sets, Statistics Canada will need longer lead time.

RDCs serve as physically secure statistical computing laboratories. The size of the databases available, plus the fact that respondents are tracked over time, permits change to be monitored in realtime as it occurs. The complexity of the data permits a level of sophistication in analyses which was not previously available to social scientists and provides opportunities for highly important new social policy research.

See ACCESS page for application details.

NOTE: Users are able to access the Public Use Microdata Files, which includes all non-suppressed variables, through their local data service. Users from Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier and Guelph can access these data files and related documentation on-line through the TDR site.
