ACCESS

To access data sets housed in a Research Data Centre (RDC), researchers submit project proposals via the Internet to an adjudication committee operating under the auspices of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and Statistics Canada. Following the project's approval a contract is signed with Statistics Canada and access granted to the RDC.

The initial report produced by the project becomes a public document in the working paper series of Statistics Canada, following which the investigator may publish in peer reviewed journals or other outlets, or in the case of graduate students, submit the research as part of their degree requirements.

NOTE: Users are able to access the Public Use Microdata Files, which includes all non-suppressed variables, through their local data service. Users from Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier and Guelph can access these data files and related documentation on-line through the TDR site.
