3. Business Arising (not on the current agenda)

item 1 : The TDRCC are beginning to consider the idea of
cataloguing the datasets currently on the Website. We will be
collaborating with the TUG-CAT Group regarding this work.

item 2 : Sue informed Bo about the 1991 Census data that UW has,
but these were not the data needed.

item 2c : SAS - there is a possibility that SAS7 will replace the
SAS script, but this is not at all certain.

4. G.I.S. (guest Richard Pinnell)

Richard was unable to attend the meeting. Helene reported on
recent developments at WLU.

Virginia Gillham, Don Hamilton, and Helene LeBlanc met with Bob
Sharpe and Grant Head of the WLU Geography Department. The geographers
pulled together a GIS document which proposes that a Map Librarian and GIS
specialist be hired jointly by the Library and the Geography Department.
This document will be reproduced and given to members of TDRCC and to
Richard Pinnell. WLU is concerned that they have only observer status on
the OCUL Map Group. They would like to get a librarian/GIS specialist to
boost their OCUL status and to improve service on their campus. They
expressly stated that they want to be part of the TDR in the context of
GIS data.

The WLU group proposed that a meeting be held on May 27th
involving representatives of GIS interests and TDR on the three campuses.
>From the TDRCC perspective this time frame is not feasible. It was
decided that work would begin at the local level in early June and that a
mid-June meeting would be held to discuss possible activities.

ACTION: Local focus group meetings will be held during the early part of
June prior to mid-June discussions.

Barry has been working on this program. Carol Perry has been
cleaning up the Readme files. She includes the information in the
Bibliocat record and adds metadata and keywords based on the Statistics
Canada record.

Suggestions were made concerning the Help document: red text is
very hard on the eyes; each term defined in the document and used in the
table should have a direct link to the pertinent section of the Help file.

ACTION : Sue will update document for spelling and grammar and send
the corrected version to Bo.

ACTION : Sue will review the content and present the update to the TDRCC
